Whiskerys Cat Water Fountain

I like that the low battery light is easy to check without picking anything up. About five weeks in on sensor mode with one cat and it is still green. Only gripe is the light faces the wall in my setup so I have to walk round to see it.

She was drinking from it the same afternoon it arrived, which never happens with anything new in this house. It lives on the bathroom tile near her litter box and the sound does not bother her at all.

Topping it up is a two-handed job with a full jug so I usually do it half at a time now. Once it is full though I do not think about it again for a week. The mat underneath catches the odd drip when I overfill it.

Sits next to the plant stand in the hallway and does not look out of place, which mattered more to me than I expected. Steel has not marked despite the cat headbutting it constantly.

My cat used to only drink out of the bathroom sink tap and now comes to this instead, tail up, most mornings while I make coffee. Took maybe ten days for that switch to happen.

Works fine but mine has never gone anywhere near 45 days between charges, more like three weeks with a cat who visits it constantly through the day. I keep the cable running along the skirting board so it is not really cordless for us, more like a long leash. Still better than the old plug-in one for cleaning.

Put it by the scratching post so both drinking and scratching happen in the same corner and it has cut down on the trail of water she used to leave from the old bowl. She drinks straight from the stream now instead of dipping a paw in first.

Refilling is easy enough, my only complaint is I cannot always tell how full it is without lifting the lid partway. A little marker on the outside would help. Everything else about it has been solid for two months now.

I fill it from a jug every few days and it takes maybe twenty seconds. No fumbling with a cartridge housing like the last one, you can just see the whole tray while you pour.

Third fountain in two years and the first one I have not wanted to throw out. The cleaning is what sold me - lid off, filter out, rinse, back together, about four minutes on a Sunday. Only thing I would change is the charging cable, it is short.

She ignored it for a week and I was ready to send it back. Kept the old bowl next to it like the guide says and she switched over around day eight. Now she will not drink from anything else. Should have been more patient.

The tray rinses clean under the tap in about a minute, no sponge needed most weeks. I do the full teardown clean on Sundays and it has become a quick job compared to what I was doing before.

Cleaning is quick, though I always end up drying the tray with a towel before I put it back together or water drips onto the counter. Small annoyance, not a big deal. The cat drinks more since we switched, which is the main thing.

Genuinely quiet. It sits on the kitchen floor and I cannot hear it from the sofa unless she is actually drinking. Docking a star because the tank is heavier than it looks when full, so filling it is a two-hand job.

Two cats, no queueing, and I top it up twice a week instead of every morning. Steel still looks new after five months. No pink film in the corners, which is what killed the last one.

The touch control is the one feature I did not expect to care about but I check the battery indicator every time I walk past out of habit now. Simple to use, no manual required after the first day.

Lifting the module off to clean underneath takes about five seconds, no tools, no twisting anything. That was the whole reason I bought it after the last fountain needed a screwdriver just to open.

Bought it because my vet told me to keep an eye on how much she drinks. You can see the level through the window without taking the lid off. Sensor mode means it is off most of the day and the charge has lasted about six weeks so far.

Setup took four minutes, most of that rinsing the filter. Looks better on a kitchen counter than I expected. Wish it came with a spare filter in the box, you only get the one.

Blends into the kitchen floor better than I thought a water fountain could. Setup was straightforward once I found the right page in the instructions, the wording on step three could be clearer.

We keep it running overnight and cannot hear it from the bedroom with the door shut. Photo is from around 9pm, lamp light only, and you can just make out the water moving.

Looks fine sitting next to the plants in the kitchen corner instead of looking like a piece of equipment. Cat ignored it for the first few days then started using it properly.

Two cats and a cat tree in the same room and this handles both of them drinking without anyone waiting their turn. Only topping it up every four or five days now instead of daily.

On the counter it is more visible than on the floor, which is what I wanted, but you do see the odd splash mark on the counter if the cat drinks a bit rough. Wipes off in a second, just something to know before you put it up there.

Bought a second one as a gift after having ours for a couple of months. The warm light in the photo is just the kitchen at dinner time, no filter, it really does look that clean still.

She walked past it for almost two weeks like it was not there. Then one evening she just started drinking from it and has not gone back to her old bowl since.

Our older cat is twelve and the vet wanted her drinking more, so this was worth trying. She goes to it several times a day now, more than she ever did with the bowl.

Fussy cat who has rejected two other fountains drinks straight from the surface with this one, no hesitating at the edge like she used to. That alone made it worth the price for us.
